Egyptian cotton is one of the most prized raw materials in the world. It grows in Egypt under specific climatic conditions that promote the development of long, uniform fibers. These fibers make all the difference: they allow for weaving finer, smoother, and more resistant threads, resulting in a fabric of remarkable softness and durability.
Thread Count (TC) refers to the number of threads woven per square inch. The higher the TC, the denser and softer the fabric feels. This is the benchmark indicator used by major luxury hotels to select their bed linen, and the standard on which Luly bases its quality guarantee for each item.
Luly sheets boast a TC of 400, the threshold at which the difference is felt from the very first night.
Egyptian cotton
Egyptian cotton is a very interesting variety for fabric manufacturing: its fibers are naturally longer, and these allow the loom to create a material with a higher thread count per inch. This thread count per inch is generally referred to as thread count or TC.
Increasing the thread count results in a fabric that is softer on the skin and keeps you cool. The fabric is also denser, more breathable, and more absorbent. This is why we use 400 TC, which is comparable to the most upscale 5-star hotels.
